Court remands repairer for allegedly selling customer’s phone

A Zuba Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday ordered that a phone repairer, Igwe wisdom, who allegedly sold his customer’s cellphone, be remanded in a correctional centre.

The police charged Wisdom , 21,of Yimi Village Zuba,  with criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge

The Area Court judge, Gambo Garba , ordered that the defendant be  remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Service facility in Suleja, Niger State.

Garba adjourned the matter untill May 15 .

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Chinedu Ogada told the court that on Dec. 31, 2021 the complainant, Ekaite Okon of Yimi village Zuba reported the matter at the Zuba Police Station.

Ogada said that on Dec 14, the complainant gave the defendant her android phone  worth N85,000 for repair and deposited N1,500 as part payment .

He said that the defendant criminally sold the complainant’s phone and converted the money to his personal use.

The prosecution said during police investigations, all effort to recover the  phone failed.

Ogada said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
