Kwankwaso receives 370 postgraduate foreign scholarship beneficiaries in Kano

The former Kano State governor, Sen. Rabi’u Musa-Kwankwaso, has received 370 indigenes who benefitted from foreign scholarship for postgraduate studies in various universities in India, United Arab Emirates and Sudan.

This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen on Sunday in Kano, by the Director General (DG), Kwankwasiyya Development Foundation, Engr. Abubakar Sadiq.

According to Sadiq, Kwankwaso told the beneficiaries at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport on Saturday, that he was excited to receive them back home in good health after graduation in various fields of studies.

Kwankwaso sponsored the students.

“This is a day to remember, a very historic day as our dream has come true. I am delighted to welcome you home, I am so grateful that many of you graduated with outstanding results.

“When I conceived the idea of sponsoring students to foreign universities for postgraduate studies, I received resources from different quarters, including donations from well-wishers and the sale of my personal properties.

“My passion for education has no boundaries, I went to an extent to selling some of my properties to ensure the take-off of this foreign scholarship initiative under the auspices of Kwankwasiyya Development Foundation.

“The 370 students departed Nigeria in September 2019, sponsored by the Kwankwasiyya Development Foundation, a charity organisation founded by me” Kwankwaso said.

According to him, the 370 beneficiaries were offered a fully-paid foreign scholarship which included tuition, airfare, accommodations and living expenses throughout their studies.

Speaking shortly after their arrival, the leader of the students, Yusuf Baba-Dala, commended the tenacity of the former governor for initiating such a gesture.

According to him, the gesture accorded them a life changing opportunity to study various courses at postgraduate level.
