The association of Ex – Iwuanyanwu Nationale worldwide is set to pay their last respect to their proprietor and father late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo with a novelty match against Enyimba legends football club of Aba. The match will be played on the 31st of October 2024. Chief Iwuanyanwu will be buried on November 1,2024 at his Atta Ikeduru village of Imo9 State.
The highly anticipated show piece has been scheduled to hold at the main bowl of the Dan Anyiam stadium Owerri by 3 PM and will feature ex football legends like Kanu Nwankwo (Papilo), Etim Essien, Friday Epko, Isaac Semitoje, Friday Elahor, Issa Ajato, Edward Ansa, Uche Okechukwu, Mobi Oparaku, Ifeanyi Ayenu, Andrew Uwe and host of other football legends that were groomed under the tutelage of the sports pillar.
According to the association President Mr Isaac Mbika; the Novelty Match will avail them the opportunity to pay him the last respect as an association.
“ Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu is our father and proprietor and this Novelty match will avail us the opportunity to pay him the last respect before he will be buried.
He helped alot of players, including ex- internationals, he is a pillar of sports in Nigeria.
He made all of us who we are today and we will be forever greatful to him for the lifetime opportunity given to us.
There will be other events before the novelty match which will be revealed in due course. “ Mbika told the Statesman Newspaper.
The remains of the legendary pillar of sports will be laid to rest on the 1st of November 2024 at his home town Atta in Ikeduru LGA of Imo state. Iwuanyanwu aged 81 years was born Friday 4th September 1942 and died 25th July 2024. Untill his death, he was the 11th president of the Ohaneze ndi Igbo, a philanthropist and a strong politician in Nigeria.
